International Public Health Conference - 2020

We are happy to inform you that the Third 'Amrita International Public Health Conference' is being organized as an online program on Dec 4th & 5th 2020 at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi

The theme this year is 'Healthy ageing: Knowledge to Action'.

The world at present is witnessing the phenomenon of ageing, which has brought with it myriad socio-economic and medical problems. The rate of growth of elderly in developing nations is at a much faster rate that experienced by developed countries necessitating higher levels of preparedness by communities and societies. We should rise to the challenge of creating knowledge, disseminating, advocating and influencing policy in the field of ageing.

Issues relating to elderly care has two distinct aspects: promotion of health & longevity and management of multiple co-morbidities, which are specifically incident in old age. Efficient health care to the elderly is, therefore, possible only by comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach. This involves holistic interventions through the social, legal and health sectors. Concerted efforts of all these sectors along with the strong support of governments and civil societies will ensure better quality of life of the elderly.

In this context, this conference hopes to showcase experiences with regard to the different facets of ageing and its corresponding support structures. We hope to bring together like-minded people from various genres to think, work and put forth sustainable solutions for strengthening our health system to address the challenge of ageing.

The confirmed speakers include leading lights in the field of Ageing such as Prof Dame Louise Robinson and Professor Richard Walker.

We welcome you all to join this endeavour.
